| The American Sewing Guild is a national non-profit organization dedicated to people who believe sewing is a non-profit rewarding and creative activity. The Riverside-San Bernardino Chapter has 13 Neighborhood Groups, from Corona to Hemet to Victorville and an estimated 176 members. Meetings are held every week in different locations with different projects and programs at each neighborhood group. For the list of programs click on the city. On the project page you will find instructions for programs scheduled for the year, with a list of supplies needed and instructions to complete each project. Giving back is a vital part of a full and rewarding life. Throughout the country, ASG has become synonymous with charitable acts of sewing. Sew What in Redlands has a community project for the Community Hospital making Small hand held teddy bears for the children that come thru the emergency room. The National Organization of ASG has been working on Operation Care Package receives, fills and mails drawstring bags to deployed service men and women from all branches of the armed forces. | Memory Bears The Moreno Valley group is participating in a Memory Bear project with the Visiting Nurse Association of Riverside. Volunteers use clothing from a recently deceased family member to make a teddy bear for the family. To learn more about this project, come to the Sew What's New Fair for a lesson in bear making, or visit the Moreno Valley group on the 4th Monday of every month. |
